Understanding family and cultural influences, and joining compassion with awareness along with learning new skills, each client has the opportunity to enjoy a happier, more fulfilling life.

Areas of exploration:
*learning new tools to change frustrating and unfulfilling behavior patterns
*exploring how to incorporate new skills to support a healthier, more fun, mutually
supportive relationship
*enhancing your communication skills
*exploring your spirituality
*support through your grief journey
*assistance for teens or young adults feeling overwhelmed and confused
*assistance in your exploration of and problem solving life transitions such as:
school challenges, career decisions, children leaving for college, relationship
changes, parenting challenges, elder care

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?
~ Mary Oliver

I would love to live
Like a river flows,
Carried by the surprise
Of its own unfolding.

Photo of Jean Forest RN, MA

When I graduated from nursing school in 1969, I worked on the Adolescent floor at Children's Hospital in Washington D.C and then as a Psychiatric Nurse at the American Psychiatric Institute in D.C.
Through my interest in hiking and backpacking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, I began exploring Acadia National Park and moved to Bar Harbor in 1973. While there, I worked at Bar Harbor Hospital in several capacities, including the Head Nurse of their OB/Gyn floor. Moving to Portland in 1976, I worked at Community Health Services as their Psychiatric nurse for their Children's program and then went on to work on their Maternal and Infant Care High Risk Team.
While in Portland, I attended USM and earned undergraduate credits to supplement my RN diploma. This opened the door for my graduate work at Lesley College in 1983-1985 where I focused on humanistic and transpersonal psychology, earning a MA in Wholistic Studies and the Healing Arts.
I have had a life long interest in Spirituality and have explored a variety of Spiritual traditions.
I bring a unique blend of traditional and transpersonal psychology skills along with life experience to my counseling.
